Bee moth

The beekeeping is very diverse and the variety of its products is wide, ranging from honey, wax and ending with products of bee life and even pests of beekeeping.

A wax moth ( bee moth) is a night butterfly. At night, it flies into a beehive and settles in a place where it lays a large number of eggs. Larvae are dangerous to the entire hive. At first, they eat honey and bee bread, but very soon they grow up and eat wax. They are very voracious and can even eat each other and the wastes of the previous generation.

There are two kinds of bee moths: a large and small bee moth, the difference between them is only in size and fertility.

The first variety is large and about 3.5 cm long, its wings are gray-brown with dark spots. It can lay about 2,000 eggs. Caterpillars growing from these eggs reach 18 cm.

In the composition of their enzymes there is a substance digesting wax. In addition to the larvae, the products of their vital activity also possess great biological activity. Bee moth excrement has a high content of active digestive products.
