Cotton honey

Cotton honey, known as "white honey", is highly valued for its medicinal properties. Today it is among the best and rare varieties. This honey is obtained from cotton. The place of nectar collection is Central Asia, particularly Tajikistan, Uzbekistan. 
Its main distinguishing feature is the vegetable oil content and high caloric value.

The appearance of cotton honey contrasts with other varieties. It has white color. The smell is light, gentle. The taste is sweet, creamy, a bit tart. After full maturation (crystallization) it acquires a solid velvety texture similar to butter.

The composition of this product is enriched with a high content of levulose, glucose, essential oils, saturated fats of Omega-3, minerals, antioxidants, and vitamins of the group: B1, B2, B5, B6, B9, PP, C, H.

How to choose a cotton sort.

 Attention! White honey is easy to fake. Therefore, it can be distinguished only with a chemical pencil or iodine. The presence of violet or blue color indicates the falsification of the product. This honey is unique in its oily texture and white color.

Properties and applications in medicine.

The healing properties of white nectar showed effective results in modern medicine. One of its main distinctive features is expectorant, it easily removes sputum, removes inflammatory processes in the body;

- helps prevent strong cough, angina and tonsillitis (including chronic);

- normalizes the intestinal micro flora;

- long-term use of honey  has positive effects on the heart activity and the nervous system;

Recommendations for use.

Like other varieties of honey, this treat should be eaten observing the temperature regime. Do not dissolve it in a hot drink (above 40 degrees) otherwise the beneficial properties of honey will disappear. Because of the high caloric value, the use of this honey should be limited to 1-2 teaspoons per day.

Contraindications:

Nectar from cotton is considered a strong allergen. Its use is contraindicated in the following cases:

- in case of individual intolerance;

- in diabetes mellitus;

- children under 5 years;

- during breastfeeding;

Exceeding the permissible doses (no more than 15 g per day) usually provokes upset stomach (with swelling, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea).

Storage conditions:

To preserve the beneficial properties of nectar, direct sunlight should be avoided. Honey that has passed the crystallization stage should be stored in the refrigerator at a temperature of 4-8 degrees in a glass container. In the liquid state it is better to store at a temperature of 14-18 degrees Celsius in the basement or in a darkened place on the windowsill.
