Steppe honey

Steppe honey refers to varieties of polyfloral honey. It is also known as feral (meadow), polyfloral honey. Why it is called "steppe». The fact is that the nectar of this product is collected from different plants of the steppe during their flowering period. It is usually late May to early June. Its honey plants are the mixtures of cultivated: (buckwheat, clover, thyme) and wild plants: (cornflower, Saint- John's- wort, thistle, dandelion).

Appearance of this sort is much different from others. Its color range is diverse: from light yellow, amber to dark brown. The taste qualities depend mainly on the flower from which the nectar was collected. Most often its taste rich, sugary. The aroma is fragrant, flowery-herbaceous. The consistency is very thick. Crystallizes no faster than other sorts.

Composition:

Its composition is enriched with vitamins: A, E, B, PP, biotin, ascorbic, folic acid and microelements of iron, calcium, zinc, manganese.

A variety of steppe honey. 

The steppe sorts includes the Central Asian steppe sorts, the nectar of which was collected from such plants as, willow herb and sunflower.  A characteristic of this variety is its greenish shade and intoxicating fragrant aroma. This product of beekeeping has antioxidant, bactericidal, analgesic, enveloping, wound-healing, soothing properties.

One of the rare and original varieties of steppe honey is honey with salt- marsh plant. 

Depending on the month of collecting nectar there are also May and June sorts of  steppe honey.

Main healing properties:

Polyfloral honey is particularly useful for people who have problems with impaired functioning of the liver, intestines, stomach.

 Its healing properties largely depend on the type of plant from which the nectar was collected. 

Sage- has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial action, helps with burns, ulcers, purulent wounds, frostbite.

Thyme - is used for colds and diseases of the upper respiratory tract. 

 Savory- is used as a diuretic. Helps with vomiting, diarrhea.

 Clover - is used for allergic diseases, has expectorant, analgesic properties.

 Nectar from geranium - it is used for diarrhea, kidney diseases.

 Application and dosage:

Should be taken with caution. Adults up to100 grams per day. Children 40-50 grams. Children under 5 years of age should be restricted in use or consulted by a doctor.

In order to preserve the useful properties of honey it should not be heated above 45-50 degrees.

- In the morning on an empty stomach 1 teaspoon (dissolve in water of room temperature).

- Dissolve in the mouth during the day.

Contraindications 

This beekeeping product is not recommended for persons suffering from: 

- Allergy; 

- Diabetes mellitus;

- Tuberculosis;

-  asthma;

- overweight. Due to the presence of a large number of carbohydrates in honey, it is high-calorie. 

Method of storage: 

It is better to use a container of natural material (glass, wood, and ceramics) for storage this kind of product. The quality of honey will last much longer. Keep in cool dry place. Do not keep in the fridge.
